The ITU World Triathlon Grand Final and World Championships opened volunteer registration yesterday, giving those interested the opportunity to have a direct impact on making race week go smoothly.

The ITU World Triathlon Grand Final and World Championships, scheduled to take place in Grant Park from Sept. 15-20, will bring over 8,000 athletes to Chicago’s lakefront for a variety of elite and amateur events. Volunteers will fill a variety of roles both in the days leading up to race week and during race week itself, with slots available from Sept. 11-20. Volunteers will help with packet pick-up, course marshaling, goodie bags, T-shirt distribution, aid station support and more.

All volunteers will receive an official volunteer shirt, and those who volunteer for two or more shifts will receive VIP volunteer status and be entered into a drawing for special prizes.

This fall will mark the first time that the ITU World Triathlon Series Grand Final has taken place in the United States and will feature the first Olympic-distance age group World Championships in the U.S. in 10 years. Elite and paratriathletes will also use the event to attempt to earn a spot on the 2016 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Triathlon Teams.
