Racing Team to Host Kids’ Races in Palatine

PRESS RELEASE: Palatine, IL– The Dick Pond Fast Track Racing Team will host their second annual Family and Kids Night at the Track on Wednesday, July 2 at 6:00pm at the Harper College track in Palatine.

The event is free to participate and is open to all children aged 16 and younger. Kids will participate in races ranging from 100 meters to one mile. New this year, team members from the Ups for Downs charity group will be participating as well. Ups for Downs is a charity group that supports children with Downs Syndrome and their families.

“Wednesday nights are usually a workout night for our team,” said Dick Pond Fast Track President Dave Schaefers. “The Family and Kids Night at the Track is a night that all of our team members look forward to participating in whether they have children or not. It is an absolute joy and very inspirational to watch the kids running around the track smiling from ear to ear and nonstop screeches of laughter.”

All registered kids will receive a tie-dye t shirt, medals at the finish, pizzas, fruit, drinks and juice bars.  There will also be countless games for the kids during and after the races. Kids must be registered before June 16 in order to guarantee a requested shirt size. Registration can be found at

“We are very thankful to our team sponsors, Dick Pond Athletics and Saucony, for supporting this event as well,” said Schaefers. “It wouldn’t be a free event without their help, and honestly, it wouldn’t be able to happen without their support. It is great to know that our team sponsors not only support us but want to support our children in achieving their goals as well.”

Check-in for the event starts at 4:30pm at the Harper College track. All runners must be checked-in by 6:00pm and the first race will start at 6:30pm. A full schedule and list of races can be found on the event registration website.
