Lume Wellness is the new kid on the block here in Chicago and is coming in strong. Located at 351 W Hubbard St, across the street from East Bank Club, Lume is the newest addition to the recovery and relaxation world.
I had the opportunity to visit Lume during it’s opening week and was beyond impressed with the facility, staff, and full experience. If you want to be pampered, this is the place to be.
Street parking is easy around Lume and I found a spot right away, just half a block away. As all Chicagoans know, street parking can fluctuate depending on the time of day, but mid-morning was a piece of cake.
I walked into Lume and was immediately greeted by smiles and a welcoming aura. A shoe free zone, Lume staff was ready to swap out my boots for a comfy pair of slides. I walked past a moss wall and immediately felt a calming sensation. Somehow the placement of Lume blocked out all of the street noises, making me forget I was in downtown Chicago.
I sat near a wall of moss and was offered a beverage as I filled out the waiver to begin my services. The staff was amazingly helpful and kind as I navigated through the menu of offerings.
You can view a full list of what Lume offers here, but I was overly impressed with the different types of IV drips and booster shots.
IV drips included:
• Good Hydrations – Hydration, Healing, Energy
• Champion Drip – Muscle Health, Increase Endurance, Decrease Inflammation
• Immunity Idol – Immunity, Energy, Healing
• Glow Getter – Collagen Boost, Detox, Skin Healing
• Big Energy – Endurance, Reduce Fatigue, Mood Boost
• Brain Power – Focus, Clarity, Memory
The Good Hydrations IV is going to be a hot one for anyone that partakes in a bit too much alcohol over New Years! I need to keep the Champion Drip for post marathon recovery. The IV drips are administered in a sterile, medical, space, and then you are escorted into a large lounge chair, where you can sit in private and relax. The drips take 30-45 minutes to be absorbed and Lume has gone out of their way to create an inviting and relaxing space for clients to enjoy.
The day I visited, I was treated with a 3-minute full body cryotherapy treatment, a cryotherapy facial, and a Vitamin B Booster shot. The cryotherapy chamber was standard and offered two different levels of cold. I chose the higher level and was able to sustain a full 3-minute treatment, with the help of good conversation with staff.
Cryotherapy offers many benefits, but for me muscle recovery and sleep are the most important. Every time I undergo a Cyrotherapy treatment, I sleep extremely soundly. I also find that my muscles recover more quickly with the help of a cryo treatment.
Cryo facials are new to me and I was excited to try this out at Lume. It was a 10-minute treatment, during which time a technician waived a wand over my face and neck, which was producing a cold steam of air. I laid in a heated bed and relaxed during the treatment, which is supposed to help with anti-aging. Like most things, it would require several treatments to have full effect, but I definitely noticed a glow on my face the next day.
The last portion of my visit included a Vitamin B booster shot. Their boosters also include a
CoQ10 (Coenzyme Q10) for muscle health, heart health, and recovery, Vitamin D for bone health, nerve function, and immune health, and Glutathione for anti-aging and detox. I’m a huge fan of vitamin boosters, especially since I have Celiac Disease, which can make it difficult at times for my body to properly absorb vitamins from food.
Lume also offers massages and an infrared sauna, both of which I plan to return for. Whether you’ve had a rough night out and need a hydration boost or simply want to explore preventative anti-aging options, you should check out Lume Wellness. They are new and are here to stay.
