At 7 a.m. tomorrow, the indoor cycling studio that has swept the East and West Coasts and inspired a dedicated, passionate following that includes the likes of Lady Gaga and Lena Dunham will launch its venture into the Midwest.
SoulCycle, a 45-minute cycling-based studio workout, will open the doors at its Old Town location, 1225 North Wells, tomorrow morning. The studio will offer its signature SoulCycle class throughout the day, with options as early as 7 a.m. on weekdays, 8:30 a.m. on Saturdays and 7:30 a.m. on Sundays and as late as 7:30 p.m. on weekdays and 6:00 p.m. on weekends. While the workouts take place on indoor bikes, participants exercise their entire body through the use of hand weights and choreography for core work during a SoulCycle class.
Each individual class at SoulCycle’s Chicago location costs $30, though first-timers can get in for a discounted rate of $20 and class packages can bring the price-per-class rate down to $26 with the 30-class option. Interested participants must purchase a class before they can reserve a bike.
Next Tuesday, Lady Gaga will host a benefit at SoulCycle in Old Town. The cardio party, scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m., will raise funds for the Born This Way Foundation, founded in 2011 and led by Lady Gaga and her mother, Cynthia Germanotta. The foundation aims to support the wellness of young people and empower them to create a better world. Born This Way Bikes at the event cost $1,000. Lady Gaga will cycle at the event, though the Bravery Bike option to ride next to the pop star has sold out.
