Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT%

The Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT% was created as the daily training complement to Nike’s fastest marathon shoe -the Nike Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT%. Leveraging learnings from the Nike Vaporfly series, the Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT% has shown to increase running economy when compared to the Nike Pegasus Turbo, Nike’s previous fastest training shoe. Featuring a firmer ride with a more propulsive sensation, the Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT% is designed –as the name implies –for tempo runs. Because of the higher mileage and the more rigorous daily use that a trainer endures, every element of the shoe had to be carefully assessed. While the Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT% features many of the same innovations as the Nike Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT%, they have been specially tuned for training.

Composite Plate: While the Vaporfly and Alphafly feature a full-length carbon fiber plate, the Tempo’s composite plate is less stiff for daily use. This is the first time a plate has been added to one of Nike’s running training shoes, and it provides stability and transition throughout a runners’ stride. The softer plate also provides added comfort over higher mileage.

Nike ZoomX Foam: Sandwiching the midsole plate, Nike’s most responsive foam solution is used in the forefoot and midfoot to maximize energy return.

Nike Air Zoom Pods: The same Nike Air Zoom pods featured in the new Nike Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% are also placed in the Tempo’s forefoot to offer responsive cushioning and further propulsion.

Nike React Foam: Given the added mileage a runner puts on their training shoes, the Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT% features Nike React Foam in the heel where more impact protection and durability is needed.

Outsole Durability: The Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT% features more rubber on the outsole for added durability over the miles. One of Nike Running’s most data intensive outsole designs to-date, the team leveraged generative design to add as much durability as possible while minimizing any added weight.

Nike Flyknit: The upper construction is Nike Flyknit with a built-in fit band to offer additional containment and support. Leveraging learnings from the Nike ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT%, the Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT% features a similar heel pad for added comfort.

Offset: 10mm (Stack Heights are 37 and 27)

The Nike Air Zoom Tempo NEXT% is $200 and will be available at Nike.com in North America:
