The 4th Annual Ooh LaLa Chocolate Run was held on Sunday in downtown Geneva. This race offers a 5K and Half Marathon distance and sells out every year.

Both distances began outside of the Kane County Courthouse and, although the morning did have patches of rain, it was relatively dry for runners who began early. The 7 a.m. start time didn’t feel as early since we “fell back” overnight and got an extra hour of sleep. Half Marathon runners began right at 7, while the 5K-ers were held at the start line for a few minutes before starting their race.

The race was an out and back loop that circled through downtown Geneva and along the Fox River Trail. This scenic course showcased the quaint beauty of the Village of Geneva and the colors of fall. Spirits were high as course volunteers offered fluid support and a few crowds even came out to brave the elements and provide encouragement.

Finishers received an Ooh LaLa Chocolate hoodie, a custom finisher medal and Chef Roby’s fresh pain au chocolat and award winning hot chocolate!

First through third female half marathon winners were: Alexis Guttilla, Kristen Dietz and Jennifer Chitala. First through third male half marathon winners were: Joseph Russo, Christopher Schiel and Randall Kester.

First through third female 5K winners were: Jacqueline Nettnin, Sydney Tobin and Abigail Burke. First through third male 5K winners were: Sam Browning, Max Kirchhoff and Karl Mark.
