Northwestern to Host Big 10 Cross Country Championships

For the first time in many years, the top cross country athletes in the Big 10 will come to Chicago to compete for the conference title two weeks before NCAA Regionals.

The 2015 Big Ten Championships will take place on Sunday, Nov. 1 at the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course in Chicago. (3600 N. Recreation Drive). Teams from all 14 schools will participate, with men racing an 8K at 10:45 a.m. and women racing a 6K at 11:45 a.m. The course, a 2K loop, covers most of the golf course and will feature views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline.

“The Big Ten Cross Country Championships are undoubtedly one of the premiere events in college cross country,” first-year Northwestern head coach ‘A Havahla Haynes said in a press release. “The fact that Northwestern Cross Country is able to host for the first time in decades is significant on many levels. It is an ideal way to kick-off the new vision for the program and its pursuit of excellence.”

An award ceremony will take place after the race at 1 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Complete information is available at
