A new running series is being introduced to Chicago this year and includes three half marathons in the city. The Chicagoland Half Marathon Series was announced last week and is made up of three half marathons. The series has two options for runners allowing them to either run two or all three of the marathons and receive a specific marathon to celebrate their accomplishment.
The halfs that make up the series are the Chicago Spring Half Marathon (May 18), Michelob Ultra 13.1 Chicago Marathon (June 7) and Chicago Half Marathon (September 7). Runners taking part in the two race 26.2 Challenge must compete in one of the first two half marathons and finish with the Chicago Half. When signing up for the races there will be an option for runners to decide if they would like to opt in for one of the two challenges.
Special medals for either the 26.2 or 39.3 Challenge finishers will be given out immediately after finishing the Chicago Half Marathon. Additionally they will receive priority packet pickup and dedicated gear check at the races. Awards will be given out to the top three age group finishers in the 39.3 Challenge using their combined times. For more information, click here.
