The North Face, in partnership with free fitness movement November Project, will launch new outdoor workouts in five cities across the country today, including one in Chicago. Mountain Athletics, The North Face’s dedicated training brand that encompasses apparel and training programs, will host 6:30 p.m. workouts rain or shine designed to help athletes reach their goals on Tuesdays at the Lincoln Monument in Lincoln Park, located just south of LaSalle and directly east of the Chicago History Museum and on Thursdays at Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park.
Mountain Athletics workouts are free, one-hour sessions led by expert trainers. Workouts cater to a person’s specific needs based on his or her sport of choice. Runners, for example, can expect to work on lower body strength and overall endurance, while climbers would tackle upper body and agility workouts.
Those interested in taking on a challenging training program tailored to their sport but unable to attend Tuesday or Thursday evening workouts in Chicago can also download the Mountain Athletics app. This iOS app provides users with a six-week program that includes instructional videos and allows athletes to track progress and earn badges as they train for backcountry skiing, all-mountain skiing, general fitness, running, alpine climbing or climbing.
