The suburban-based MMTT-Mach II Triathlon Team extended its history of high performance the first weekend in August, with its Youth Development Team bringing home the USAT Youth Club Championship for the third year in a row.
Thirty athletes from MMTT-Mach II Triathlon Team finished in the top 25 of their respective age groups at the race, earning points for the team. The Youth Club Championships, which took place in West Chester, Ohio, feature non-drafting youth races for triathletes ages 7 to 15.
Among the athletes who competed, three MMTT-Mach II team members earned individual national titles along with the team’s club title. Xavier Garriques won the male age 8 national title, completing the 100-meter swim, 5K bike and 1K run in 20:18. Garriques also won the male age 7 national title last year.
Siblings Jack and Courtney “Coco” Diemar also won national titles in the male age 9 and female age 11 divisions, respectively. Jack has won three consecutive national championships, and this year finished the race in 18:54.
Coco narrowly defeated Monica Lopez-Aguirre of Texas for the female age 11 title, winning by .28 seconds with a time of 33:57.75 over a 200-meter swim, 10K bike and 2K run. Coco also won the USA Cycling Amateur & Para Road Criterium national title for Juniors 9-10 last year.
