Life Time to host third of four swim clinics on July 27 for triathletes in preparation for upcoming Chicago Triathlon
Available classes feature open water swim clinic, competitive aquathlon or swim on your own option at Ohio Street Beach
WHAT: Coming off of the COVID-19 pandemic, athletes have had less access to pools to train for an open water swim. With the Chicago Triathlon coming up on August 29, wellness pioneer and event producer Life Time wants to help race participants, as well as aspiring swimmers, get re-introduced to the water and experience open water swimming in a safe, non-intimidating environment. Athletes will have the opportunity of selecting either an Open Water Swim Clinic, Competitive Aquathlon or the Swim On Your Own option.
Open Water Swim Clinic: Private swim instruction for beginner and intermediate-level swimmers looking for open water tips and techniques. More than 450 athletes are expected to attend with coaches facilitating a 45-minute, in-water session.
Swim-On-Your-Own: This option is for those participants who prefer to utilize the event services (gear check, wetsuit rental, etc.) but swim independently.
Competitive Aquathlon (Swim + Run): Participants looking to test their endurance will start alongside fellow athletes. Swimmers will complete a 750m or 1500m swim (their choice) followed by a 3.1 mile (5k) run along the lakefront. Staff will manually record splits, posting results following the event.

ABOUT: Launched in 2012, Life Time’s pre-race swim clinics are designed to help new triathletes experience open water swimming in a safe and comfortable setting in preparation for race day. Since inception, more than 12,000 participants have directly enhanced their swim abilities from these clinics. General registration is open to the final three events in limited capacity.
