Gwen Jorgensen won her second consecutive ITU World Triathlon Grand Final title this afternoon, finishing the Standard (Olympic) distance course in Grant Park in 1:55:36, 29 second ahead of second place Non Stanford of Great Britain.
Jorgensen was 11th out of the water and stuck with the lead pack during the bike. The run featured a battle among Jorgensen, Stanford and Vicky Holland, also of Great Britain, but Jorgensen pulled away with 2 kilometers remaining. With the win, Jorgensen locked up her 2015 world championship. Andrea Hewitt of New Zealand, who took fourth in the race, was the 2015 runner up, and Sarah True of the United States finished third in the overall standings with a seventh place finish in Chicago.
