On Saturday, Silver Circle Sporting Events hosted its annual Independence Day Trail Assail race. This race was part of the trail assail series offered by the SCSE, allowing runners to earn points on their tally.
The race offered a 10K and 5K distance option, and followed a challenging 5K loop in Fox River Park in Waukesha, Wisconsin. There were several inclines throughout the course as it wrapped in and out of the woody park preserve.
The morning was extremely warm with temperatures in the mid-80’s prior to the race start. Race organizers were great about allowing runners to switch from the 10K to the 5K, and had several water stations throughout the course to ensure runners were kept safe and hydrated.
About half of the course was in the wooded park area, which dropped temperatures about 10 degrees. The other half was pretty sunny and open, leading to a very HOT day. Runners kept their paces slow and raced smart in the heated temps.
All runners received a super comfy, short sleeved, technical t-shirt and finish line fun.
10K female winner was Lisa Turner and 10K male winner was Dan Sievert. 5K female winner was Brooke Graesslin and 5K male winner was Andrew Miller.
