The Chicago Area Runners Association announced yesterday that it has named Johnpaul Higgins as the organization’s acting executive director beginning today. Former executive director Wendy Jaehn concluded her time leading the organization on July 31 and will return to the renewable energy and energy efficiency field.
Higgins came to CARA last summer as its organizational manager. Recently, he also took on responsibility as digital media manager for CARA. Higgins has extensive experience in the nonprofit sector, most recently working with Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago, a neighborhood revitalization organization that aims to create opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their neighborhoods.
Higgins moved to Chicago in 2003 and began his running career at the same time. To date, he has finished two marathons, including the Cleveland Marathon this past May where he set a PR of 3:15:02.
The CARA Board continues to search for a permanent executive director.
