Kristan Huenink has been exploring the city of Chicago in her running shoes for more than a decade and coaching endurance athletes from beginning runners to Ironman triathletes nearly as long. Kristan is a USAT-certified Level I Triathlon Coach, Slowtwitch-certified Swim Coach, RRCA-certified Run Coach and USMS-certified Adult-Learn-To-Swim Instructor. She works with athletes of all levels to discover their athletic potential with a focus on developing the whole athlete, including mental toughness, tactical racing, nutrition, strength and endurance.
As an athlete, Kristan has completed countless road races from 5K to 26.2 (including 30 marathons to-date), open water swim races and triathlons of all distances (including 5 Ironman-distance races to-date), repeatedly qualifying for USAT Age-Group Nationals, earning Ironman All-World Athlete Bronze status and competing at the top of her age group at the Sprint distance.
She lives in the River West neighborhood of Chicago with her runner husband, Jim; two cats---Schlafly and Fartlek; and three bikes---Buffy, Braveheart and her unnamed Cervelo P2.
